What does my support look like?

Services

As a postpartum doula,  birth doula, certified lactation educator and breastfeeding support specialist, I can offer you a wide range of services and support, tailored to your individual and family needs.  These include:



Birth Support


  • Two prenatal visits to assess your needs and desires for birth, define and understand our expectations of one another, and provide you with useful tools for labour and birth
  • One private breastfeeding class, if desired
  • Birth preferences assistance to help you clarify your choices for birth and help you explore the options that are available to you
  • Access to my lending library of books and DVDs about pregnancy, birth and baby care, to support your learning
  • On call for you 24/7 from two weeks before your estimated due date until your little person decides to arrive
  • Continuous physical, emotional, and informational support for you and your partner for the duration of labour and birth
  • Initial breastfeeding support immediately after birth to encourage the establishment of breastfeeding, if desired
  • One postpartum follow-up visit to celebrate the birth of your baby and answer any questions you have during the early postpartum period
  • Unlimited phone and e-mail support to answer your questions and offer suggestions and support throughout pregnancy and early labour

Postpartum Support (arranged before baby is born)

  • two in-home prenatal consultations
  • one in-home private breastfeeding class, if desired
  • assistance in buying what you need (and not what you don't!)
  • available 24/7 two weeks before your estimated due date
  • support in hospital immediately after your babe is born, if desired
  • support at home, either full or part time, as determined by you
  • phone support for 3 months after our time together is finished


Postpartum Support (arranged after baby has arrived)

  • all aspects of in home support
  • hours to be determined based on need and availability
  • includes respite support and breastfeeding support
  • phone support for 3 months after our time together is finished
 
Breastfeeding Support


  • in-home consultation
  • ongoing phone support
  • in-depth analysis of the breastfeeding relationship and challenges
  • in-home follow-up, as needed
 

Overnight Support


  • overnight stay from 10:00pm to 6:00am (or whatever meets your needs)
  • bottle feeding or night latching with doula assistance
  • record of wet diapers / fluid intake as necessary
  • soothing and settling baby back to sleep after each feed


Multiples Support

  • same as postpartum support above, but with an emphasis on the unique needs of a family with more than one baby.
  • help setting up the home in an optimal way for multiples
  • assistance with developing routines
  • support in developing sleep routines
