A Postpartum Doula:
- Offers education, companionship and nonjudgmental support during the postpartum fourth trimester
- Assists with newborn care, family adjustment, meal preparation and light household tidying
- Offers evidence-based information on infant feeding, emotional and physical recovery from birth, infant soothing and coping skills for new parents and makes appropriate referrals when necessary
“AJ is absolutely golden. She cuts through all the fluff out there on postpartum care and makes direct, practical recommendations that just flat out work. She weaves her magic with a level of compassion and understanding that really resonated with our family and I couldn’t help but give her a big hug as she walked out the door after only our first meeting.
We looked long and hard for the best resources available to care for our newborn and the difference between what AJ brings to the table relative to everything else out there is staggering. Having a child is a tremendous challenge, but it doesn’t have to be so hard! AJ has the answers and we feel truly blessed to have her support.

Research evidence shows that the addition of consistent postpartum support can ease the transition that comes with the addition of a baby to a family, improve parental satisfaction and reduce the risk of mood disorders.
“AJ - Just wanted to say a big THANK YOU! You have been so great at putting my anxious mind at ease and helping our family transition. I could feel my blood pressure go down every time you walked through the door!”

"AJ came into our life as a postpartum doula to help us welcome our 3rd child as we also readied for a move from Calgary to Jakarta, Indonesia. AJ was a rock for our family in a time when every day brought the unexpected and yet she still helped us focus on the moments of newborn love so essential in those first days. Her advocacy for the Mother and the family as well as her support of breastfeeding were inspirational -
AJ will always have a place in our hearts."
